Amber Valletta - Model Turns Designer

yurman_amber-valletta_003.jpg

Reported by WWD Amber Valletta has teamed up with Monrow an LA based design label "which will debut with tissue-thin layering tees and tanks, day dresses, a romper, tailored blazers and a fringed cape in a navy, cream, black, light gray and pale blush palette." Most of the new line will range from $65-$80 with the exception of a few higher end pieces around $600. I love more affordable sportswear!

Kate's Cover A Classic Keepsake

Kate Winslet elegantly graces the cover of Harper's Bazaar August '09 issue. The skyline of the Big Apple frames her timeless figure wearing a Ralph Lauren dress and accessorized by Cartier and Chopard. This shoot is not only breathtaking but inspirational, so much so has I have already found a frame for it to be hung in my office. Pick up the August issue if you can. You won’t be disappointment.

Anna Wintour is Planning a Party for September

NY Magazine's The Cut is reporting Anna Wintour’s September Issue party could be the most fabulous thing since the Met Gala.
Anna Wintour is hosting a "splashy opening" of R. J. Cutler's Vogue documentary The September Issue on Wednesday, August 19, followed by a private dinner. No word on whether pools and swimming will actually be involved, but Oscar de la Renta is supposed to attend. Karl Lagerfeld, another of Anna's designer besties, is also not an unlikely attendant. Another screening takes place Saturday, August 22, in the Hamptons. If thinking about being in the Hamptons gives you hives, we suggest you try to catch the September Issue screening next Friday at 92YTribeca."

Stylish Storage Options

Visit the Container Store where storage and fashion collide. I absolutely love the velvet hangers – great space saver and not one item will slip off.

A First for Everything

We know retailers are getting hit hard in today’s economy. Even for luxury brands such as Chanel. A sign: “ale” signs are going up in the windows, a first for the Soho store.

Betsey Johnson to Retire?

Reported by New York Magazine - The Cut, yes she indeed is hoping to spend more time out of the office then in.
“My partner and I, we both want to know what would it be like to get up in the morning and go, ‘What do I do today?’” Johnson said. Johnson believes Eric Sartori, who previously designed for Vera Wang, Hervé Léger, and Azzedine Alaïa, will become the brand’s head designer. “He is the one,” she says. “He’s much better than I am. He just has to Betsey-fy himself.” Johnson wants to hand over the reins after her September show. "But I’ll be a megaconsultant. I’ll go in. I want to be like Ralph [Lauren]. Like, I always imagined the perfect life is like Ralph, where he goes in, and his wonderful expert crews show him work, and he goes, 'Love it, love it, love it, um, we’ll just put that aside for the moment, love it, love it, hmmm.' You know what I mean?" she said. "And be that — be the inspiration, the light at the end of the tunnel, the fairy godmother that comes down."Johnson says she’s never been able to let go, and she and her partner never feel anything is right “unless we do it or tweak it or correct it. ... And we’ve got to learn to get over that, because we want to wake up and have nothing to do,” she says. “And it is very, very hard to find your clone. It makes you figure out what you are and why, and is that working, and is that what you stand for, and is that what the business goes forward with? It’s really difficult, and I highly suggest thinking about it in your forties instead of your sixties.”

CHANEL BRINGS US BACK
