Fall Fashion: Everyday Basics

It is a wonderful time to replace basics with the current trends of neutral colors and tailored styles. Everyday basics are most important for the sole reason we rely on them daily. Create a “uniform” out of basics to save yourself time & alleviate frustration within your closet.

Clockwise
  1. The Trench Cape from H&M - $59.99: perfect for layering in colder climates or wearing over a T-shirt and jeans to run errands.
  2. Chambray shirt from Walmart - $13.99: worn with a cardigan and shorts for a causal look or with a pencil skirt & statement jewelry for a trend stopper.
  3. Gap Ts - $7.99: under a blazer or with a scarf for simple chic.
  4. Beige & Gray Tanks from Forever 21 - $4.99 pair with a skinnyjean, boyfriend sweater, long necklace & ballet flats for weekend fab.
  5. Oatmeal V-neck cable knit sweater from Old Navy - $26.50: it will even take you into the Spring.
Left to right
  1. Black jean legging from Gap - $69.50 (Wednesdays ask for coupon book and receive 40%): great for running around town or picking up the kids from school with a cute top and pair of flats. Date night is super easy just add a pair of strapy heels, blouse & clutch.
  2. Faux leather pants from Express - $59.90 Bring a little rock n' roll into your life. Daywear: a chunky knit sweater and boot. Nightwear: black pump, tank top and blazer with a edgy necklace or bracelet.
  3. Metallic & blush skirt from Ann Taylor Loft - $11.99 Work fabulous, Sunday best & luncheon classic.

Counter Clockwise
  1. Shoulder Handbag - make sure you absolutely adore your handbag. This is the one item your will use the most. It is important that it can withstand a bit of wear and tear, so it is worth investing a bit.
  2. 50's style Ladylike handbag from a vintage store - $40.00 just lovely
  3. Nude ballet flat from Old Navy - $13.49: the color allows you to wear it with anything, it extends your leg by blending in with your skin tone and comfortable enough for the playground.
  4. Platform pump from InterMix - $99.00: Shake it up a bit, shoes are a great way to move out of your comfort zone without fulling committing to an entire look. Make sure they are comfortable for even the most fabulous shoe if they hurt aren't really that fabulous now are they.
  5. Leather belt from BCBG - $19.99: a leather touch can spruce up a dress, separates, a coat or just add an element of the unexpected.
  6. Fedora from Ann Taylor Loft - $29.50: simply for bad hair days.
  7. Bubble cocktail ring BCBG - $9.99: very cool durning the day with a pair of legging, flat riding boot and oversize belted shirt or at night with a little dress.
  8. Coral pearls from Art n Soul Designs - $120: a modern classic that will never go out of style.
  9. Multi-colored scarf from Forever 21 - $9.99: wear with a straight or wide leg yoga pant, Tshirt and leather jacket for cool causal.

DKNY - A Show of Classic Freshness

The show was absolutely amazing show! "Mad is sooo on". The color combinations were classic yet fresh: black, navy, safari brown, white, red, the prints - stunning, the freshness of coral & red or turquoise & aqua blue were like a spring breeze of the Atlantic. The ruffle trim, bow belts and floral prints embodied femininity. The cigarette pant, tailored vest dress, trench inspired looks along with the printed blouses are pillars of a wardrobe for years to come.

About

My photo
Kate Delnero discovered her love for art and fashion in her Grandmother’s attic. During her time at New York University, Kate modeled for Calvin Klein along side Kate Moss & Sofia Coppola. Combined through her work for Aids-Benefits with contributing designers Patricia Field, Donna Karan, and Mario Valentino, Kate’s keen admiration for the fashion industry blossomed. Living and working in New York City for over a decade, Kate Delnero’s experience evolved and expanded into multiple creative roles to include contributing editor, fashion show production and consulting for domestic and international designers/retailers. Kate Delnero continues her work in fashion as a wardrobe consultant and stylist with clients in Atlanta, California, Chicago, London and New York. www.fusionofstyle.com
