Proenza Schouler & Target, Really?!

The Cut has reported, Proenza Schouler is a bit upset with Target at the moment for the production of the Mossimo messenger bag that retails for $34.99. The claim - it is a knock off of their PS1 bag that sells for $1,995. Is this accusation warranted? Designers continually come out with similar interpretations of trends. Take a look at Mulberry “Alexa” bag retailing for $3,000. We don’t see Hermès crying foul play for the many interpretations of the “Kelly” or “Birkin”. Why fight?! What do you think??

LOOK OF THE WEEK

A current trend is to mix prints & patterns. Here four (4) different ways to do so (I couldn't stop a three this week). Enjoy!

Edgy - for those of you that like a bit of spice.

Elegant - for those of you that are classics at heart.

Easy - for those of you that need today's outfit to be easy to put together, easy to throw on and extremely comfortable.

Bonus - because I could not stop at 3 looks.

Elie Saab Fall 2010 Couture - Truly Breathtaking

The Paris Couture shows have unfortunately come to a close this week. I have not been swept off my feet by a fashion presentation in a while. Well, that time has pasted. Elie Saab Fall 2010 Couture show was truly breathtaking. Whimsical glamour was reborn: a touch of old Hollywood, combined with magical textures and silhouettes representing power & femininity took my breath away. I beg to see these creations across society pages and at up coming Hollywood award season and at the White House. There is simply something for everyone. Mrs. Obama for you look 8, 13 & 15.

President & CCO - SJP

James Devaney/WireImage

I was overjoyed to hear of Sarah Jessica Parker’s new role as President & Chief Creative Officer of Halston. SJP has had such a long affair with fashion industry, often collaborating with top to designers such as Michael Kors and Isaac Mizrahi. She even began her own clothing line Bitten, fanatic basics (Ts to suits) for extremely reasonable prices sold exclusively at Steve & Barry’s. Reported by WWD “I think this is a brand new kind of business model, and it illustrates how serious I am about this position. I think it’s wonderful to feel invested in something.” The combination of Sarah Jessica Parker’s raw talent, everlasting drive and pure enthusiasm for work will be sure to bring back Halton to what it once was.

Looking forward to the collection!

Former Miss Argentina Death by Plastic Surgery

Is vanity worth the price of death???? Reported by The Cut today:

Photo: SkyNews

"Solange Magnano, the 1994 Miss Argentina winner, died on Sunday after complications from a gluteoplasty cosmetic-surgery procedure she got in Buenos Aires last week. A friend said the 38-year-old got injections for a rounder butt because she thought it was "no big deal," but the liquid went into her lungs and brain, and she ultimately died from a pulmonary embolism (when blood supply to the main artery of the lung is blocked). She is survived by her husband and her 8-year-old twins."

Our prayers and thoughts go out to Mrs. Magnano' children and husband.

Obviously Kate Moss Has Not Had NYC Pasty's Pizza

Reported by New York Magazine's The Cut, Kate Moss prefers thin to food. Poor thing hasn't had Tavern's (in Atlanta) spinach dip nachos, NYC Pasty's Pizza or LA's Asia De Cuba wasabi crunchy mash potatoes.

"Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. That's one of them. You try and remember, but it never works," she said last week. Mary George of British eating-disorder charity Beat notes, "Comments like this make it even more difficult for young people struggling with an eating disorder." Moss's agents issued a statement explaining that the quote was taken out of context adding, "For the record, Kate does not support this as a lifestyle choice.''

Ivanka Declines Vogue

Reported by NY Mag's The Cut, Ivanka graciously declined a position at Vogue offered by Ms. Anna Wintour herself.

"I had, like many people, pulled an all-nighter studying for the final exam that I had the next morning. And I receive a call the next morning directly from Anna Wintour, her assistant connected us, etc. — she called my cell phone, so I was a little bit ... taken off guard would be sort of an understatement. And she very graciously inquired as to what I was planning to do after graduation, and offered me a position at Vogue, which to any girl, even if you’re not particularly interested in fashion — as life would have it I ended up starting a jewelry collection, and she’s been an amazing supporter of me in my future endeavors. But it was a great honor.

It never occurred to me that I would accept the job because of the focus that I’d had — I’d been at Wharton, I’d always wanted to go into real estate, so that was my path, and I was very polite in my refusal, if you will. But when I told my father about this experience, he asked me several times — several times almost to the point where it was a bit disconcerting to me why he was pressuring me to take the job at Vogue ... I was a little bit upset about it."

Meet Zac Posen at Neiman Marcus in OC

At 21 years of age, American designer Zac Posen emerged as fashion's newest star in 2002 when his alluring feminine dresses made their New York City runway debut. He was hailed as the design world's latest prodigy, and possibly even the savior who might rescue American fashion from the styles-and-sales slump it had experienced over the past decade. Over the last few years, this winner of the CFDA Swarovski Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear has built quite a fan following with his critically acclaimed collections that are a New York Fashion Week favorite. Natalie Portman, Rihanna, Kate Winslet, Claire Danes, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Naomi Campbell are just a few who have turned to Posen when walking the red carpet.

For Fall 2009, Posen showed a collection that was for the 1940's Victorian romantic - voluminous shoulders, body-hugging silhouettes, ruffled collars, dresses in a mix of floral prints and earth tones and gowns in liquid metallic. It was chic and fabulous, just like you.

On Wednesday, October 21st, Mr. Posen will send Orange County's fashion diehards to heaven when he visits Fashion Island for an exclusive Spring 2010 trunk show hosted by Neiman Marcus. For more information please call (949) 759-1900.
